  • February 18th, 2009View any site with ease – says Microsoft

Found on Internet Explorer 8’s home page:

“Now you can quickly display websites that were designed for older browsers. Simply press the new Compatibility View button if you see display problems on a website like misaligned text, images, or text boxes. It’s located next to the Refresh button on the Address Bar.” Link to this article

So… if a site is, what Microsoft calls “not up-to-date”, you can switch back to Explorer 7’s rendering engine. You can also keep a list of which sites that should always open as IE7 instead. What does this say about how good IE8 is at rendering modern web sites?

Really now; all versions of Internet Explorer should have a Compatibility button that automatically opens Firefox instead.
