
Why do gossip magazines have to look like gossip magazines? They are not exactly a work of art; the cover has thousands of fonts of different sizes, and often no taste in choice of color. The insides are cluttered with low-resolution photographs and badly formatted text. Of course, the papirazzi industry behind the magazines is even uglier (remember princess Diana?), but do the magazines have to mirror it? Why not have a little more order and style in the magazines? Easy-to-find text with a clear index, like the more expensive magazines. Will people still want to buy them if the look more expensive/stylish? If one changes the look, will it loose its readers?
Is it because most of them look like home made photo collages that makes readers more emotionally attached to the magazines? If i wanted to collect pictures of celebrities, I wouldn’t order them like that, though…
